Message from the Piranhas Swim Team Board

Hi MIA Homeowners,

The Piranhas Swim Team Board is working behind the scenes to get things up and running for our 2022 Piranha swim team season. We will begin to interview for coaching positions this week. We have a sizing kit coming to help people determine suit sizes. And apparel is being set up in the online portal.

However, thus far we have not received enough registered swimmers to be able to participate in the league swim meets. We are at risk of not being able to have a team this year. We love our Montevideo Piranhas and want to see it succeed but we need more swimmers and families and volunteers in order to make that happen.

We understand that this year many families may be looking forward to traveling and may be hesitant to add swim meets to their summer plans. We have been talking about how best to handle this. The league sets requirements for our swimmers to attend three or more of the regular season meets in order to qualify for Champs. We are required to host meets and staff meets with volunteers, so if we don’t have enough families there to sign up for the volunteer shifts, it is just an impossibility to move forward as part of the league.

We have set a date of April 1 to close registration. We will assess at that point if it is possible for us to continue with our swim team season. So if you are planning on swimming with us, please register by April 1. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to hear from you. (mtvdpiranhasboard@gmail.com)

Thanks,
The Montevideo Piranhas Board

MONTEVIDEO PIRANHAS SWIM TEAM

From the Montevideo Piranhas Swim Team:

We are happy that we will be able to offer a swim season 2021! This season will be a practice season, no meets, and will be an opportunity for swimmers to strengthen their strokes and stay fit. And, hopefully, to have some (safe) social interaction and community!

Registration is open. Visit https://www.teamunify.com/camp to sign up.

The season will run May 17-July 16. (Afternoon practices May 17-June 4; morning practices June 7-July 16.) The cost for the season is $300 per swimmer.

In full transparancy, we must meet a minimum number of swimmers in order for the season to go forward.

Please note: due to safety protocols, we do not anticipate having coaches in the pool; consequently, younger swimmers must be completely water safe (able to swim a complete lap unassisted) in order to participate this season.

SWIM TEAM SURVEY

Hello, Neighbors.

The Piranhas Swim Team is discussing the possibility of having a swim season this year and what it would look like with county restrictions in place. They would love input on a survey to find out if there is interest in a season this year, even though it would be quite different than “normal.” There are many new families to the neighborhood, so they asked that we share the link to that survey here. Even if you haven’t been on the neighborhood swim team before, but might be interested in joining the swim team, please click the link below and give them your feedback.

Thanks!
